Stupid president's day....stupid bank rules....stupid check that hasn't cleared yet. (sigh) It looks like I'm going to have to shop twice this week. Fortunately I had some cash to get part of my groceries, like oh, TOILET PAPER! I was seriously starting to look at my cleaning rags as a viable alternative.
We made it through last weeks $38 budget. We even managed to squeeze some peanut butter cookies out of the stuff we had on hand. I do love a good challenge...and a good peanut butter cookie. But it about wiped out all my supplies so this week is going to end up being more than $60 to stock back up. And as soon as the stinkin' check clears (stupid bank) I'll have to finish the last half of my grocery shopping.
So here's what I got so far.
Franz outlet store
4 loaves of bread and 1 bag of bagels $4.70
S & S Liquidators
1 head cabbage $.50
12 apples $2.00
Butter flavor Crisco $2.99
2 cans pinapple $1.58
1 can spaghetti sauce $.69
2 cans mandarin oranges $1.38
cream of celery soup $.59
2 cans green beans $.78
1 lemon $.25
2 containers fresh blueberries $2.00
Starbucks whole bean coffee $3.49
Grocery Outlet
4 double rolls of TP $2.99
Soy milk $1.99
Garbage bags $.99
2 bags spaghetti $1.98
Margarine $2.29
24 oz Activa yogurt $.99
4 boxes Mac & Cheese $1.00
shampoo $.99
Win-co
5 dozen eggs $5.98
5 lbs sugar $2.69
4 lbs bananas $2.29
25 lb flour $7.98
celery $1.09
2 lbs carrots $.88
Grand Total $55.08
So how did YOU do this week?

So how did YOU do this week?
Kuddos to you for getting your coffee! If mama ain't happy, nobody's happy!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou did great. You are a great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm just sayin'......I bought a nice soft flannel sheet at the thrift store for $5, cut it into squares, and tada, no more need to buy TP. Just keep a bucket with a lid on it in the bathroom. If my budget was as tight as yours, this would help out a lot!
ReplyDeleteAs for how I did, my budget is $200 every two weeks (7 meat-eaters in this house, including 3 teenagers). I still have $33 left and do not plan to spend it, but am putting it by for future bulk meat purchases. So...I have spent $83.50 each week. I'm happy with that.
Not nearly as well as you! Actually, I'm just now jumping on the bandwagon. Hopefully next week I'll have better news! But, I do have an award for you!
ReplyDeleteCan I tell you again how jealous I am of your cheapo Starbucks coffee?
ReplyDelete:)
I did good considering some of the challenges I had. I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me to stick to my budget - thank you! I thought of you the other day when our small town grocery store had Starbuck's coffee in their discontinued bins for $2.99 a bag...I think I actually squealed out loud! ha!
ReplyDeleteYou and all your follwers totally amaze me. Our food is always over 200$ a week and there are only three of us. I just don't know how you do it. I see that you have some amazing stores that offer incredible sales.
ReplyDeleteWe just don't get that here and I really wish we did. We have expensive or more expensive.
Just think, you could have saved 2.99 and used your rags!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's not all bad. hehehe
I love reading everything! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou are a fabulous inspiration to me on cutting down our grocery bill! I always thought I did great until I began reading your site. My favorite part is how you list the actual items you buy and for how much. It helps me keep track of low prices when I do our own grocery shopping. Thank you again for such a priceless site!

Where do you find grocery outlets. I would love to spend the amount of money that you do.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's when you're thankful that boys don't need TP every time they visit the restroom.
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever come that close on TP, but since my kids are little and still messy eaters, we would go through several napkins per kid per meal. I couldn't handle that. Last year I knit up a bunch of washcloths and each kid gets a wet facecloth for wiping their mouth and sticky fingers during meals. Wash and Re-use. Yeah for saving paper.
Had to post an "EWWWWW!" for the bucket of rags! LOL
ReplyDeleteTP is one thing we never pay for. Our Kroger has Cottenelle 4packs for 99¢ and we always have 50¢ mfr coupons that double.
Good deals though, workin with whatcha got!
I spent less than $50.00 my goal budget...but I have a feeling next week will be bad as I am trying to buy more organic stuff. Organic beans and rice anyone...cuz it's all I can afford! lol
ReplyDeleteokay, how do you guys go through 4 loaves of bread and a bag of bagels each week? Seriously?
and I don't think rags are all that bad (I don't use them...yet) I mean before the invention of toilet paper that is what everyone did right? So I think it's all in our head really.
Faith
I love saving money! I'm so glad I'm not alone!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I wanted to play and share my menu too, but I can't figure out how! I shop and plan Friday (payday) to Friday.. Anyway, here's my link, just in case you're interested...
