I know I’ve been on a laundry kick lately, but considering that fact that I do an average of 26 loads of laundry a week, it takes up a huge portion of my time and effort.
Just as an update….I love my new homemade laundry soap. It looks a lot like a cross between chunky snot and jello but my clothes are clean and it’s only costing me a penny a load.

I was talking to a friend about getting our whites white ( yes, my life is a little more exciting than laundry talk but never the less, that’s what we were talking about) and I mentioned Mrs. Stewarts Liquid Bluing, just assuming that everyone already knew about it.
But she hadn’t heard of it before.
Which made me think, maybe y’all haven’t heard of it either.
So I am considering it my moral obligation to tell you about it.
It’s a non-toxic, biodegradable, old fashioned but effective way of whitening your clothes….and it’s better than bleach. I’ve had my teeny tiny 8 oz bottle for at least five years so the savings are tremendous. It keeps your whites from getting that yellow or gray aged look and makes them sparkle.
I will never have gray socks again!
It only takes a few diluted drops in your wash and your clothes will stay white longer than they will last!
So go check it out and be sure and check back to tell me how much your bottle cost. I bought mine so long ago I can’t even remember.

I'm very interested in the Mr. Stewarts stuff--I've never heard of it before either.
Do you think you can get it at a place like Target or CVS?

Another item to add to the list. (I hadn't heard of it before either, and lately I've been lamenting the yellowish and gray results of bleach!)
Thanks for the tip! We moved to a house with a ceptic tank, so I can't use bleach--plus, I was beginning to feel uncomfortable using it. Yet I wasn't sure what I could use on my whites instead. I'll have to keep an eye out for that!

I have always wanted to try making my own laundry detergent. You have finally given me the kick I needed to go ahead. I will also be checking for that bottle with the scary grandma on it while in the laundry aisle.
I make my own laundry detergent, too. A little different from yours, but have the problem of my whites not being so white after a lot of washes. I refuse to let bleach in my house, and would love to try the Mr. Stewarts stuff. Where do you find it?
Me again. I just popped in to get the name of this product so that I could start looking for it, and I also voted in your poll. Were you exagerating about the number of loads of laundry you do a week? Because I have the same number of kids, and they're just as active with sports etc., and I really only do between 7-10 loads a week, which is a far cry from 26! What gives?

I'm about to attempt to make my own detergent for the first time - and I was wondering about this liquid bluing - do you only put a few drops in your whites - or all your laundry?

I found this at my local grocery store for $3.09, and they're usually my best priced store.
