And The Winner Is...and other stuff.

So today is the day. The two winners of the DivaCup giveaway are Heidi and Stephanie. Congratulations! Please respond back within 48 hours to claim your prize. If you didn't win and you'd like to get one for yourself see my left sidebar. Amazon has them for a little cheaper price. I've got a few more giveaways I'm working on so check back to see what else you could win.

Also, my newspaper column came out today. Check it out here. My friend Emily (who is the goddess of all Goodwill Outlet shopping) went with me. These are the photos of the strange and nasty things that I couldn't put in the paper. But see the bonus you get for actually reading my blog?

This is what the outlet actually looks like. Big rolling bins that they periodically rotate with fresh stuff.

Pretty sexy, huh?

I swear it was nasty underwear day. Just piles and piles of underwear that had seen better days.
Even found a disposable pair of boxers with a built in diaper. See how brave I am? No gloves. Just a lot of hand sanitizer in my purse.

What no picture of the pile of good stuff you brought home? All we get to see is the icky stuff?

Either way, it looks like a fun time to me!

A friend of mine used to live in Camas and took me to the Portland Goodwill outlet a couple of times when I visited. I came away with bags of clothes - fabulous!

There is one about 45 min. or so from me here, but went once and it didn't even compare (in size even)though I did find a handful of so-so items.

I actually enjoyed the digging - like a treasure hunt! :)

Okay, now that's the worst good will store I've ever seen and I have been in TONS!

The worst one I ever went to was at a good will in Chicago. I would walk for an hour at lunch and just walk in random directions for 1/2 hour then walk back.

I came across a good will store and went in - the whole store smelled like pee! It wasn't until I got to the back that I saw an old man actually peeing in the corner!

I quickly got out of there! And who donates underwear??!!

Oh, I went to a goodwill outlet in downtown L.A. and did not like it one bit, LOL. Maybe if I had actually found some stuff or if they had prices posted or something, I would have liked it... but the way it was? Pass. And some of the people were so rude. They'd bring out a new bin and these people would just pile armfuls of it into shopping carts and then go off to the side to sort through it. Meanies. =P

The one I went to in Seattle was pretty nasty too...but if you're brave there are good deals to be had! I'd like to go back...but bring gloves or hand sanitizer! :)

Hey, Linda Evans probably wants her black dress back. That was smoking in '86. What? You didn't need disposable boxers. Some people are just so choosy.

Back in January, I cleaned out my undies drawer. I actually threw my old undies out! If I had known there was a market for it...well, then...waste not, want now!

Gross.

I think people are having the misconception that the Goodwills around here are all nasty. This is an outlet store. Big diffrence between the regular stores. I had a friend at work that would once a month organize a group of us to go "dumpster diving". It was a blast and we got tons of stuff and we combined it all so we only paid like 5 buck each. When I am looking for something in particular I go to the Goodwill store off Cornell in Beaverton. They take my Goodwill discount card (yes they make them. they are kinda like safeway cards) Very clean and fairly new and they have awesone sales! Just think. Instead of someone else sorting through the stuff to go into the other stores, you get to do it and keep all the fun stuff you like.

That's just gross! I would fer sure have a panic attack. No joke! But if it meant spending time with the two of you, I'd totally do it. Just give me the camera, while you two do the mining. I'm inept at finding the diamond in the rough.

We have two completely different Goodwills in our town One is relatively new, neat, organized and has better quality clothes. I have many a good deal in there. The other is referred to as our "Dig and Dive" where they sell eveything by the pound. Clothes just went up to 99 cents a pound I think. They wheel out big bins of all kinds of stuff and it is fun to spend a couple of hours in there every now and then. You may actually find somethng that is quite a score too. Mostly it is the cheaper older stuff though. It is still fun and there is always a bargain or discovered when I go there.
