Grocery Cart Challenge Recipe Swap

Since I was internet-less last week when I planned my menu I had to draw from the piles of cookbooks in my kitchen cupboards. I hadn't forgotton what a wealth of recipes were in there. This one is from Lean and Luscious by Bobbie Hinman (see left sidebar) and it was a huge hit for breakfast.

Strawberries 'n Creme Breakfast Cereal
recipe is for 1 serving (I multiplied by 6)
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
sweetener equivialent to 2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 cup sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen) we used blackberries because they were cheaper
3/4 ounce corn flakes or any other dry unsweetened breakfast cereal
In a serving bowl, combine yogurt, vanilla and sweetener. Stir in berries and cereal.
I'm excited to see what you're posting this week.

That sounds delicious--I eat granola and fruit in yogurt this way--my children might like the addition of crunchy cereal! :)

I am definitely making this! Sounds so yummy and great for breakfast on the go! Thanks Gayle!
My latest favorite breakfast is Blueberry Oatmeal Bake, and I just love the stuff. I tried it with a 6-grain hot cereal and it was fabulous. Highly recommend!

A lot of us on Weight Watchers enjoy fruit and yogurt with plain Fiber One cereal mixed in. It gives sort of a graham crackerish taste and adds a lot of volume for no "points".

No recipe to share yet....I was excited to find your blog because I am working on keeping our budget to $100 per week. Things that are different in our house is that my husband wants meat, a good chunk of it, every night, I have six children, four of whom are teenagers, and three of us have dietary restrictions that make baking more expensive (no sugar or wheat). So I will be thrilled to get it down to $100/week! Looks like you are doing great and I look forward to exploring your site.
