I Heart My Bread Machine

Someone asked what Bread Machine I use. My first machine was a wedding present over 14 years ago and I used it to death. I was sad that I was going to have to take my chances and buy another one but I really lucked out. I got a regular old Sunbeam bread machine. It was the cheapest one that I could find at Wal-mart and the only bread machine on the shelf. I was desperate and grabbed it, hoping I didn't just waste all that money. Come to find out I love the thing. I really like the shape of the bread pan, plus it has a gazillion different settings and makes JAM!

Hello!

So if you're shopping for one I've got a link on the left sidebar to Amazon where you can get it cheaper than I paid for it at Wal-mart. It also received great reviews from over 300 people. I love reading through those.
P.S. Nobody is paying me to say this. I just heart my bread machine THAT much.

You should get paid for it!

I love my bread machine too. I looked for one that made bread that looked like a loaf of bread and not a sewer pipe. I found one. I don't use it enough, you have made me want to use it more, so I am!

I asked for one for Christmas but didn't get one. I will have to try again for my birthday!

I heart my bread machine(s) too! I have more than one as I do alot of cooking/baking at one time. I also seem to burn/wear one out every 9 months or so. I usualy get mine by word of mouth (many people have one they don't use) or at Goodwills/consignment shops. Can't remember the last time I paid full price for a bread machine. Just thought I would share those money saving alternative ideas.

Blessings, Beth Ann

My bread machine is one of those foreign ones....Zojurishi is how you spell it, I think. I got it at a rummage sale for $3 because it "didn't work." I thought I'd take it home and give it a try. After doing a bit of online research and troubleshooting, I went to the machine and pressed and held the reset button for 5 seconds. It's worked perfectly for the past 15 years!!!!

I don't think I'd use it for jam, though....that's just too easy to make on the stove! :)

I have been weighing pros and cons of bread machine vs. the old fashioned way. I'd be interested in your thoughts. How often do you make a loaf? I just don't seem to be consistent with making bread as it takes so long and I have to be at home long enough to do it, but I don't know that I want to put out the money to buy a machine.

I heart my bread maker as well his name is Tom!
We actually bought a rather expensive bread maker however we did not buy it until it was on sale and we had a 20% off coupon. The reason why we paid more was because I have an allergy to gluten and this bread has a gluten free setting. Yesterday Tom made sour dough bread and everyone loved it. The sour dough wasn't gluten free so I could only sample.

I make homemade bread a lot but I very rarely cook it in my bread machine. I use my machine for the dough setting and then just shape and do a final rise before I cook it in the oven. It's a hugely valuable tool for me timewise because I can multi-task while the bread is doing it's thing. While it's kneading and mixing, and rising I'm teaching math, and spelling, and reading. I don't think I could get it all done if I had to do it all by hand. If someone likes to cook multiple loaves at once to store in the freezer than I would suggest skipping the bread machine. It can't make mass quantities like a good ole human can.

I love my bread maker too. I got one from Wal-Mart for Christmas, and kind of just thought it would do the job nothing fancy. WRONG! It's wonderful. I can't get over how simple it is, and being the super organized or I don't do it kind of gal that I am, I use gladware bowls and put all of the dry ingredients for 5 loaves at a time together. Makes it way easier when you're trying to make bread on the weekends with kids running around

I got my breadmaker about 7 years ago. Well, actually I was having a terrible time finding stuff on clearance at Target, and a local girl from our bargain-hunting board picked one up for me. So I got it for 75% off! I didn't use it for the longest time, but have recently made it a goal to try to use it at least once a week... even if just to make dough!

I have the Sunbeam bread maker too. It's wonderful! I owned a Welbilt before the Sunbeam, but I like the Sunbeam better.

I've made bread both ways (by hand and by machine). I love my machine, because I work full time and I can bake bread while at work.

I have two breadmakers that I got for a song at the goodwill, but neither works as well as I'd like (one is pretty good for what I call "supervised" mixing, but doesn't bake well at all---the other bakes pretty well, but isn't so great for mixing up dough).

I've been wanting a better one, but hate to spend the fortune it sometimes seems like you have to for a great one. So, thanks for the recommendation. Added to wishlist!

That's the bread machine that I have... and the only thing I have "bad" to say about it is that if I don't put it on the counter sideways, it WILL "walk" off the counter while it's kneading bread! I know from experience... what a massive **CRASH!!!**. Thankfully it only suffered some "cosmetic" damage and Daniel was able to put it back together.

You are going to think I am either a pain, BUT.....my hubby just home with the Sunbeam Bread Machine!!! I showed him last night your blog. Sunday is our anniversary so he got for me as a surprise. I am so excited.

So the pain part.....What do you use for a recipe? Do you just use the recipes in the book it came with or do you have a book of recipes?

Any help would be appreciated. I can't wait to make my first loaf!!!

I use the recipes in the book but I also go to recipezaar and do a search for bread machine recipes. I find lots of good ones on there.

I have a Sunbeam as well. Like many have mentioned, I just use it to make the dough. I have never liked bread baked in a bread machine, but I love the freedom of letting it do the dough for me! I'm still looking for a really good recipe for pumpernickel bread though. I love my whole wheat recipe, but I haven't found a good pumpernickel bread yet! And I shall have to check out the jam making thing.

My MIL GAVE me an old sunbeam that she never used... it was on its way to the Goodwill, but she decided to ask me if I was interested in it right before they dropped it off! It sat on the top of my fridge for a few months until I read your blog about how much you heart your bread machine and I saw the Buttery Bread Machine Rolls and thought I'd dust it off and try it. My husband is raving about how good the rolls are! I'll for sure look for more recipes and use it more often now!

I just recently got a used Zo on ebay. Those are really expensive, but I got a good price and love, love, love it. I can't believe I've lived so long without a bread maker!
