Wow, great deal on the potatoes. I just paid $6.09 for 10 lbs. And they weren't that great either ...

Excellent job! Now, the big question... will that $5 and change go towards next week or is that just considered bonus?

In looking over your menus and shopping lists, it's looking like your "ace in the hole" is avoiding meat as your protein as much as possible to keep to your budget. I only saw a beef dish one night, and I'm not sure I saw any chicken dishes. The others were either vegetarian or involved legumes as the protein. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

It seems that you've been blessed for a few weeks with S&S Liquidators $3.49 Starbucks coffee. Congrats! (I'm jealous.)

I've tried your microwave popcorn tip & haven't turned back since. It is the best & cheapest way to make popcorn! Thanks for the tip!

Okay, don't you love that the discount stores give you Starbucks coffee for such a good price? I get espresso (for mize latte's addiction) and I usually never pay more than $3! It's so cool!

About the meat question... we usually average 2-3 meat meals per week. Meat is never the main course but always a part of a meal. No steacks or chicken breasts for us. Usually it's in a casserole, stir fry or soup. And yes, it's strictly to keep costs down. If the sky was the limit we would have no problem going back to a totally carnivorous life. Although when I had some hamburger last week I didn't like the taste near as much as I remembered. And I had to keep telling myself, "This is hamburger, Gayle. Quit thinking about it as an animal!"

Well Terri, if I was a good girl (or a liar) I'd tell you it was going towards next week. But really, it went to Starbucks when I had tea with a friend.
