Grocery Cart Challenge Recipe Swap - When It's Comfort You Need

My husband left for work today, which involves opening the basement door and walking down the stairs to his office, and immediately called up the stairs, "Uh, Gayle...could you come here a minute?"

Yeah, raw sewage two inches deep in our basement.

The culprit? A small bouncy ball that got lodged in the main sewer line and cost $250 for roto-rooter to get out.

So today's recipe involves chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.

If you'd like to participate in the recipe swap please remember to link directly to your post, not your homepage and don't forget a link back to The Grocery Cart Challenge.

I've been making those bars for about 20 years. In high school I'd take them to nearly every gathering. Thanks for the reminder... I haven't made them for awhile!

I don't know, those look like they might not be worth ALL of the effort to make them!

Just kidding!

They look delicious and so easy - thinking about letting my daughter make them tomorrow (if I have graham crackers.) Thank you.

I am so sorry but totally undestand. I bought my daugher a baby doll with a bottle for $5. She ended up flushing the bottle down the toliet, which got lodged and to make a long story short we had to replace the toliet. Not once but twice. It was loads of fun. Wish i would of had your chocolate fix recipe then.

I absolutely HATE IT when my husband asks me to "come here"...just tell me already and cut the suspense :)

Sorry to hear about your basement...that just sucks.

You need lots of chocolate and caffeine :)

Oh, I am so sorry, Gayle. That is terrible (and disgusting, first thing in the morning) about your basement. You all didn't loose anything too important from the office I hope. I know our piles of work-to-do tend to multiply and the floor always seems like a great "temporary" solution.

Oh my goodness....words can't even describe how good that looks right now. It is 8:30 in the morning but I am totally making these. Thanks so much for the recipe!

I'll be praying for you and your family. Hope the chocolate helps you de-stress!

Email I received today. Sending it to you in case you haven't seen it:
Chocolate Calculator:

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but the Hershey Man will know!
YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH
This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
It takes less than a minute .
Work this out as you read ...
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 ..
If you haven't, add 1758.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2009) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

Gayle,
I don't have a blog but I wanted to share a recipe I think you would love. It's called Eggplant Meatballs and it's on Recipezaar:

I am devastated I don't have graham crackers in the house because I would be making these right now. Bookmarking so I can make these after I go to the store!

You seriously deserve to eat the whole pan yourself! I know because we had a similar problem last Friday which involved cutting and replacing 12 feet of pipe. I still can't get that smell out of my head!! Yuck! I love your blog BTW!!
