We go through AA batteries faster than you can blink around here and I'm just sick of it. I use them for my digital camera, wireless mouse, kids toys, atomic clocks, and various other important things. And to find myself without batteries, or worse, without any spare bucks to get new ones FAST, is a desperate thing. Those little buggers can rack up the dollar signs. So I decided to invest in a battery recharger and haven't looked back.
I keep spare batteries in my charger at all times and when the charge runs out in my camera or a toy I immediately have a new batch to put in and begin charging the dead ones. No trip to the store, no digging through my purse for a few bucks, and no battery-operated toy or appliance sitting unused around my house. And my rechargeable batteries have lasted me for multiple years.
The initial expense of the charger and re-chargeable batteries pays for itself in just a few months. You can check my left sidebar under "I Recommend" for a great set-up. It's the Cadillac of rechargers and comes with AA and AAA batteries and can even be used for larger sizes as well.
It's literally saved me $100's of dollars

i think that's an awesome tip, when we got pregnant and did our baby shower registry, I registered for a battery charger and rechargable batteries (b/c EVERYTHING baby related takes some kind of battery! I have not bought batteries since and LOVE my rechargeables!
Great tip thanks for sharing.
I am going to have to invest in one of these-glad to hear they work so well. We blow through batteries like mad too. Thanks for the tip :)
I do rechargeables for my camera, but that's about it. I need to start doing them for my kids mp3 players. They go through them like crazy.
A great tip and much better for the environment! With two young boys, our house would go thru batteries like candy! I love my rechargeables too!!!
quick question I am with you and use way to many batteries but to use a charger do you have to buy special batteries?
Yes, you have to use rechargable batteries which aren't much more expensive than the regular ones and don't have to be replaced again for years.
I seem to have a problem finding "I Recommend" on your left sidebar. Could you give me a few more hints?
We also invested in a recharger over a year ago. Both kids had leapsters and Portable Cd players. Plus the mouse and TV remotes. When we got a Wii last Christmas it was great for those remotes also. We didn't have to invest in their rechargable battery packs, because we already had our AA's. So worth it if you have kids!!
You can find "I Recommend" in the third box down on the left....

Yes I love my battery charger as well.
Ok, I've looked there, too, but I still can't find the 'I recommend' link. The blogher ad isn't showing up either. Thanks!!
Hmmm. Not quite sure why the I Recommend box isn't showing up. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe it's a different browser? Either way, I've added the link at the bottom of my post. Let me know if there's still a problem.
can you use that charger for regular sized batteries. When I looked at it on Amazon it seemed to be only for the camera battery. We have the charger that works with our camera and the rechargeable wii remotes, we have tried the rechargeable batteries in the past but my husband was not happy with the length of time that they kept a charge.

We love rechargeables!! We have used them so much they are now losing their charge. :( Time to get more....
I also got a free coupon for a pack from Duracell b/c I accidentally bought pre-charged and they did not have any charge....gotta love free!
Great tip. We love rechargeable batteries!
The charger you've linked to is for a digicam battery. Actually one that I have. But you mention in your post it comes with AA and AAA and fits larger sizes as well. Am I wrong, but I don't think this is the correct charger for regular batteries?
I use firefox and the "I recommend" box is showing up on the right. Also, yes, previous poster is correct in that the link is going to a camera battery charger...
