Menu Plan Monday


I did a trade with a friend last week and for some blog design help I received some of the beef from the 1/2 cow they purchase every year.

You're looking at a girl with some meat in her freezer! Wahoo!

I've been lazy lately by purchasing store bought yogurt so I'm going to make myself a fresh batch of homemade this week. Here's an even EASIER recipe to follow that I found on good ole Recipezaar.

And I love throwing in a few new recipes each week. I'm trying some homemade Gnocchi (I thought of you, Gloria. I bet you make the best.) and a recipe that looks addictive called Funky Chicken with Sesame Noodles. Can't wait!

Breakfasts

Oatmeal with apple and brown sugar
Pancakes
Leftover pancakes


Dinners

Soup (pantry odds and ends) and french bread rolls
Steaks, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli
Homemade gnocchi w/ marinara and green beans
Sunny side up casserole and fresh fruit
Cuban black bean patties with salsa and sour cream, Spanish rice, sliced fresh veggies
Leftover night

Your menu sounds so good! The Chicken with Sesame noodles is definiltey one to bookmark.

Oh how I would love to have a cow in my freezer!! You lucky girl. :)

Thanks for the homemade yogurt recipe. My little one loves those yogurt drinks and they are so expensive (and I don't find coupons for them very often). I'm going to try this sometime this week and make some drinks for him. At least this way I can control what goes into it.

I'm very impressed! I'd love to be able to feed my family of four on $60 a week (it would be a lot easier if I had kitchen appliances that functioned as they should, but hopefully I'll save with MPM and be able to replace them eventually.)

Obviously here via MPM!

I think I'm going to have to try your black bean patties next week, they sound so yummy!

Oh, I make those black bean patties all the time...we LOVE them! :)

I make pineapple-brown rice and steamed sugar snap peas to serve with them.

Julie-How funny. I've made the black bean burger/rice/sugar snap pea meal after I read about it on your site (which I don't remember how I even got there...perhaps recipe swap on Fri????). Anyway, I tried to comment and tell you how delicious these burgers are, but I wasn't able to (I didn't meet any of the posting criteria; i.e., open i.d., google something or other, etc.). Anyway, thanks for the recipe/meal idea!

As a side note, don't try using whole wheat flour in homemade gnocchi. Not good, so not good. Good luck with your yogurt!
