Aww Shucks

I totally didn't send out that last post so you could all just build me up, but gosh, that's what happened and you all rock. You made me feel good.

To be honest, my rut stems from the fact that my dad is sick. The last few weeks have been a dizzying time of changes and hard choices and a future that looks way different than I was ready for. Which means my time in the kitchen has been survival mode. "Cook what's on the menu and then get out." No creativity, no extra baking, and a lot of "Here's the recipe kids. Do your best and I'll be home later."

But your questions were fun and are getting my mind swirling again. I needed the jump start as I start to settle back into a routine again.

So over the next few days (weeks maybe?) I'll try and tackle your questions. And you had some really good ones. You gave me great ideas on future articles, some input on stuff that I had no idea you'd want to know about but I'm happy to oblige, and an opportunity to get a little more personal which is scary since I have so many readers and don't really know who is lurking out there in the shadows, but I really want to go there.

SO....stay tuned. This could be interesting.

Gayle, I am very sorry to hear about your dad. Having been in a similar situation, I can completely understand how that can effect all the other parts of your life. Take it easy, get rest and be with your dad.

I didn't know your dad was sick!

I agree with Staci....the blog can wait.

I hope that your dad isn't terminal. I know how I would feel if I suddenly found out that my dad was very sick. It would rock my world to its roots.

I will be praying for you.

Take care.....

And I also look forward to reading all of the Q and A's!

You and your family are in my prayers.

I love your site. It give me so many ideas on how to be more careful with the resources that He has provided our family. I can't wait to see where the site will go in the future!

If you need to take time off, DO IT. You don't get this time with your Dad back. We'll all wait for you. God bless

Hello. I am new to your blog. I enjoy reading your suggestions and I wanted you to know that I am praying for you and your Dad.

Not too long ago I was caring for my Mother-In-Love when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I was 26 years old with a 5 year old who I was homeschooling. I cared for my dear, mother-in-law in our home 24/7. It was an incredible blessing but exhausting, time consuming, and emotionally draining all at the same time.

Don't worry about wearing all of the hats right now. Blogging can wait. Spend as much time as you can with your loved ones because life is short. Mom passed away six months after her diagnosis... it was a roller coaster ride but we were able to care for her here in our home, just as she wished. She passed away with a smile on her face as she went to be with her Savior and I knew in my heart that we did the right thing. I had lost my best friend but I was able to give her the best gift I could have at that time - my service and love. So don't be afraid to put less important things on hold in order to invest time and energy into the here and now. You won't regret it. Oh... and make sure you take some respite for yourself... it is hard to care for others when you haven't taken time to care for yourself. My prayers are with you.

I will be praying that the Lord would grant you time for your family to serve with a whole heart. You have been so faithful to this sight and encouraging us all. I pray you have that same faithfulness to your dad and know that your faithful High Priest does understand and he offers rest for you and asks you to be diligent to enter that rest. Hebrews 4:11. The rest has to do with belief and trust that our soul needs, not the physical rest our bodies want, although that comes in the Promised Land! Listen to your husband's wisdom and the wisdom of older discerning women. They are vital to our emotional lives during times like this. Take time to seek them out for the rest you need along with the Word like Heb 4:2 says. These are the times when God shows Himself in new and powerful ways, be ready.

Gayle, our prayers are with your family. I am so inspired that through all of that you have managed to still avoid going out. A lesser woman (like me :>)) would have crumbled and drove to McDonalds (yuck!).
