Garden Progress

I was asked a few days ago about my garden so I thought I'd post a few pictures.

I've still got some roma's.....

and cherry tomatoes growing.

A second round of summer squash. You can see two new ones growing here.

Some green beans...

Lots of basil...

Our pumpkins by the front door...

About two weeks ago I planted a second crop of carrots, broccoli, and lettuce, hoping to get one more harvest in before it turns cold. What's left in your garden?

Your garden still looks great! I still have a few tomatoes, pumpkins, zuchini(of course), a few acorn squash that I am hoping ripen before the frost, and tons of rasberries. I love gardening. It is such rewarding work!

well, I have still got rhubarb, some peppers, and would have lots of zucchini and squash, but our dog eats them!

I am so disappointed in my garden! I got nothing but pretty flowers on my pumpkin vines and then the leaves got some powdery mildew stuff and turned yellow. Turns out we don't have any bees to pollinate anyway. My basil is still doing fantastic. My carrots have been growing for 4 months and they are about a 1/16th in diameter and 2 inches long--truly pitiful. My pickling cucumbers (the 4 that grew all summer) are phallic at best.
This was my first year gardening from seed and I followed the square foot method and even bought the 3-parts for the soil and so far, I'm not impressed. :(

You'll have to share you secrets! I'm sure the heat wave we had over the summer didn't help the situation and I'm very concerned about the lack of bees...

In refrence to the bee's . . . I live smack dab in the middle of down town, in middle TN. So not a farm here! LOL I just wanted to say the first year I planted, nada, no bee's and I bemoaned the fact loudly and longly! However I didn't give up and the following year, bee's and every year since then! So I just want to offer encouragment. If there has never been a garden before, perhaps it takes the bee's time to realize the boutiful booty you have to offer them?
Blessings, Beth

We've got a bumper crop of green beans, cherry tomatoes, butternut squash, and herbs. We've also got some freewill lettuce and a second planting of zucchini!

Down here in Florida, very little besides okra (like, ew) is still growing. Even the farmer's market is dead. We're all waiting for late October when we can finally PLANT! Getting ready for a garden of lettuce, broc, collards, kale, and carrots, which only grow through the "winter" here. If we plant too early, it all just bolts or is too bitter to eat. I like "winter" gardening here much better than summer. This is like our spring.

Our garden is just about done. I finished up canning the last of the carrots and beets last week and picked and froze the last of the peppers just today.

All I have left are tomatoes. I grow romas too. BUT it is cold here in Colorado. I don't think any more are going to ripen.

I have a pantry full of food again. Life is good!
